The Spin-Clean story began in Chicago around 1974 when Fidelitone Inc., a manufacturer that sold record needles and other record accessories to retailers, created a record cleaning device called Spin ‘n Clean. One of Fidelitone’s customers was Record-Rama Sound Archives in Pittsburgh, Pensylvania (USA), where the owner Paul C. Mawhinney had great success with the product.
Within a year, Fidelitone were looking to discontinue the product; but having had such success with the Spin ‘n Clean, Paul Mawhinney decided to buy the designs and relocate manufacturing to Pittsburgh. As result, the newly branded Spin Clean Record Washer was available across the U.S from 1975 and continued as a great hit for Record-Rama.
In late-2009, Paul C. Mawhinney retired, and the Spin Clean brand passed to his son, Mark, who set about extensively re-engineering the long-established design. From 2010, the new Spin Clean Record Washer System MK II was released, and from that time has quickly spread across the globe – delighting audio enthusiasts everywhere with an affordable vinyl cleaning solution.
The innovative manual cleaning process and specially-developed cleaning formula make the Spin Clean system a simple way of improving your vinyl record collection’s usable life – reducing surface noise and removing unwanted dirt and debris from the record grooves.
